Shabeena's criminal practice includes both prosecution and defence work in the Crown Court. She has considerable experience in dealing with cases in all areas of serious crime including murder, violent and sexual offences, firearms, drug importation and supply, and fraud.

Notable Cases include:

  • R v Kashim & Ors - widely reported in the press. Murder - multi-handed, successfully defended
  • R v Shah & Ors - widely reported in the press. Murder - inter-racial / gang-related, successful
  • R v Siddik - Murder - multi-handed, inter-racial joint enterprise killing
  • R v Bye - successful abuse of process arguments in relation to historic allegations of incestuous child sexual abuse
  • R v Bunny - widely reported in the press. Sentence - case concerning sexual intercourse by a female with a minor (next-door neighbour's son)
  • R v Kashim Uddin - high-profile, racial - a recent large-scale public disorder in Leeds
  • R v S - large-scale conspiracy to defraud - successful legal arguments to have all counts on the indictment dismissed

Immigration practice includes appearance at all levels of the immigration court system including successful appeals in the Court of Appeal. Particular expertise in entry clearance and domicile cases. Many reported cases.

Member of the South Eastern Circuit, the Criminal Bar Association and the Family Law Bar Association.

Joint Head of Chambers' Management Committee and the Pupillage & Tenancy Committee.

Lectured at the Inns Of Court School of Law on behalf of the South Eastern Circuit Minorities Committee.

Languages: Fluent in Bengali.
