Profile:

Matt joined 9KBW as a tenant in November 2023, following a short probationary period. He completed pupillage at another London set, during which he acquired various experiences, such as undertaking private prosecutions and conducting a disclosure review for HMRC. Matt assisted HHJ Mayo KC with research on recent developments in the criminal law for updates to the 2023 edition of the Crown Court Index.

He is now actively building a busy Crown Court practice in both prosecution and defence work, dealing with matters ranging from the supply of class A drugs to serious violence, fraud, and possession of weapons. He also accepts instructions in regulatory law, frequently presenting cases on behalf of the NMC.

Before coming to the Bar, Matt worked in a number of pastoral roles in both mainstream and specialist education as well as for a community action charity based in east London. He also worked as a paralegal for a firm of defence solicitors, preparing heavyweight criminal cases.
