Profile:

Callum prosecutes and defends in a wide range of criminal matters, including sexual offences, drugs, serious violence, and driving offences. 

Callum undertook pupillage at the Crown Prosecution Service and, upon qualification, practiced in the magistrates unit and later the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences unit. Through his time at the Crown Prosecution Service Callum has considerable understanding of CPS policies and procedures. 

Prior to pupillage Callum worked as a cost draftsman and negotiator. 

Notable Cases 

Prosecution

R v H, Luton Crown Court, 2024. Prosecuted a trial for s.18 GBH where the defendant had punched the victim 3 times in the face resulting in a broken nose and fractured eye socket. The defendant was convicted. 

R v W, Isleworth Crown Court, 2024. Prosecuted an actus reus trial where the act complained of was sexual assault. The defendant had taken down his trousers and hugged a stranger in a shop. The defendant was found to have done the act. 

R v K & P, Woolwich Crown Court, 2023. Prosecuted a trial for making indecent images of children. The defendants had been accessing a Zoom conference where indecent images were being screen shared. Involved legal argument on definition of “making.” Both defendants were convicted.  

R v R, Central Criminal Court, 2023. Led in a trial for attempted murder where the defendant had driven into 4 unsuspecting young men. The defendant was convicted of s.18 offences and sentenced to life imprisonment. 

R v O, Inner London Crown Court, 2023. Led in a trial for fraud offences. The defendant had been involved in several different frauds involving the creation of false documentation. The defendant was convicted.

R v S, Inner London Crown Court, 2022. Prosecuted a trial for attempted s.18 GBH and dangerous driving where the defendant had driven into an individual with whom he had been previously arguing. The defendant was convicted. 

R v U, Wood Green Crown Court, 2022. Prosecuted a trial for sexual assault where the defendant had grabbed the complainant between her legs at a private event. The defendant was convicted.

R v Z, Isleworth Crown Court, 2022. Prosecuted a trial for ABH where a “road-rage” incident took place on the central reservation of the M4. The defendant was convicted.

Defence

R v I, Harrow Crown Court, 2022. Represented a defendant who had pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking whilst subject to a conditional discharge. The incident involved a police chase in a stolen Range Rover Sport which ended after the defendant crashed. A suspended sentence was secured.

R v F, Wood Green Crown Court, 2022. Represented a defendant who had pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply. A suspended sentence was secured.

R v L, Westminster Magistrates’ Court, 2023. Represented a defendant charged with theft of bags from a bar. Following submissions after the evidence of the police officer who purported to identify the defendant the prosecution offered no evidence.  

R v C, Maidstone Magistrates’ Court, 2022. Represented a defendant charged with offences under the Protection of Badgers Act. Despite the defendant voluntarily absenting himself from the trial, an acquittal was secured and no warrant for the defendant’s arrest was issued. 

R v F, Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court, 2022. Represented a defendant who had pleaded guilty to affray, battery (x2), and possession of an offensive weapon whilst subject to a suspended sentence for having a bladed article in a public place. The suspended sentence was not activated, and the defendant was sentenced to another suspended sentence.  

Interests
Callum enjoys the outdoors and can be often found cycling, hiking, and kayaking.

Eleanor Mawrey, (Deka Chambers) leading Callum Morgan (9KBW) successfully prosecutes serial scammer who faked CEO’s signature and stole a doctor’s identity.

Eleanor Mawrey, leading Callum Morgan (9KBW), successfully prosecuted Olamide Odulele following a trial at Inner London Crown Court. Mr Odulele received a 6 and a half year sentence of imprisonment. His co-defendant, Shazeb Iqbal had already received two and half years imprisonment in August 2021 having pleaded guilty in relation his role in the offence.
