Before obtaining pupillage, Harriet worked in regulatory law as an advocate for the Health and Care Professions Council. She was responsible for obtaining Interim Orders such as Suspension or Conditions of Practise Orders for registrants accused of misconduct.
Harriet would also act on behalf of the HCPC for restoration hearings where previously suspended or struck off registrants wished to reapply to the practise register. These professionals included paramedics, physiotherapists and radiographers, among others. Before that, Harriet worked in a criminal defence firm which dealt with all areas of crime.
Following successful completion of pupillage with 9 KBW Harriet has built a thriving practice, prosecuting and defending, and is regularly instructed in criminal cases at the Crown and the Magistrates Courts. Harriet is on the CPS Advocate Panel as a Level 2 prosecutor.
Harriet has a particular interest in Dangerous Dogs Act cases, and has considerable experience in this area of law, having specialised in this when working for the criminal defence firm, prior to pupillage.
In a recent case Harriet was instructed to defend the owner of a typed pitbull dog which had bitten another dog badly. Following the presentation of a defence expert report and strong mitigation from Harriet, the dog was saved from destruction and subject to a contingent destruction order instead.
Harriet is also a member of Chambers growing team of specialists dealing with areas of Animal Welfare Law
