After successfully completing pupillage at 9 KBW, Tom accepted an offer of tenancy and continues to build a flourishing criminal practice. Tom, who is now a level 2 prosecutor on the CPS Advocate Panel, prosecutes and defends in the Crown Court, Youth and Magistrates’ Courts in a wide range of criminal cases. Tom is instructed in both prosecuting and defending in contested jury trials, as well as dealing with guilty pleas, appeals, committals for sentence and other non-substantive hearings.
 

Prior to pupillage, Tom was employed as a Caseworker and Accredited Police Station Representative at Robert Lizar Solicitors where he gained considerable high level experience in dealing with those arrested or charged with criminal offences, from driving matters to offences of serious violence including murder and terrorism.

Recent Cases – Prosecution:

R v A (Huntingdon Law Courts) - Successfully prosecuted a bladed article trial.
R v L (Reading) – Successfully prosecuted a conspiracy to commit burglary. The Defendant, along with two others, conspired to burgle drugs from a garden shed.
R v M & O (Central Criminal Court) – Tom prosecuted a two-handed Class A drugs conspiracy at sentence, with an estimated street value of £500,000–£750,000.

Recent Cases – Defence:

R v D (Fraud) – Tom defended a client at sentence. Though the offence had a starting point of five years' custody, he successfully argued for a suspended sentence. The case was covered by the local media.

R v C (Guildford) - Tom defended a dangerous driving trial at Guildford Crown Court.
 
R v M (Maidstone) - Tom defended in a POCA matter with a benefit figure initially presented as £76M. The case settled for just over £200k.
