Ms Azhar, junior for the Crown, has begun the case involving five women in an all-female gang accused of conspiring together with an absent male to assist unlawful immigration. The gang flew in brides from Lithuania to marry men from the Indian Subcontinent, with the sums totalling £315,000. 26 sham marriages have so far been attributed to the women.
