Devon Small is a leading barrister, who mainly practices in criminal defence. 
He started his career with the Crown Prosecution Service in Birmingham, working his way up to Senior Prosecutor.

After six years with the Crown Prosecution Service, he returned to the bar. Over the years he has developed an extensive practice. He has previously worked in chambers in the Midlands.
He has an extensive criminal practice. He covers some of the most serious criminal offences, murders, and manslaughter cases. He specialises in Drugs, Sexual offences and gang related offences.
He also specialises in case involving young defendants, and vulnerable witnesses.

He is a hardworking and dedicated barrister who takes every case seriously. He is well liked by solicitors and lay clients alike. He has developed a good reputation in the Midlands.
He appears in all of the criminal courts, from the Court of Appeal to the magistrates.  He mainly practices in the Midlands, but his practice takes him all over the country. 

Recent Cases

R v Downer. This case was before the Court of Appeal. Leave to appeal was refused  by the Single Judge, but he took the case further and was successful in appealing  the sentence. 
 
R v Myers. He successfully defended in a case involving allegations of sexual assault.
 
R v Fleary. He successfully defended a defendant charged with intentional strangulation.  
 
R v Ola. Junior counsel on a 9-week rape, a case involving a church Pastor convicted of multiple rape. The case was widely reported in the local and national media.
 
R v Cowley.  Junior counsel on a murder case. The case involved a young drug dealer who was convicted of murder.  
 
Devon is a member of the Criminal Bar Association and the Midlands and Oxford circuit.
 
A keen supporter of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, in his youth he was on his way to becoming a professional footballer but was drawn to the law instead.
 
These days to relax, he enjoys playing badminton, running, and travelling.
