Instructed by Payton’s Solicitors, Piers Walter defended a young man of good character who was unanimously acquitted of affray and assault on an emergency worker following a 7-day trial at Inner London Crown Court which involved three defendants.
The case involved an incident at Liverpool Street Station where a male was knocked unconscious. Piers' then 17-year-old client was said to have threatened violence to a group of elderly men and assaulted an officer trying to restrain him. The prosecution relied on extensive footage of the incident which showed the actions of all defendants. Pier's client disputed being the aggressor and argued that he acted in self-defence when the officer tried to restrain him without purporting to detain or arrest him.
The jury returned unanimous not guilty verdicts after less than two hours.
