Laura Paisley represented this defendant who pleaded guilty at a late stage to a very serious assault and attempted robbery of a stranger in the street. Despite the serious circumstances of the offence, Laura was able to persuade the Judge that, upon taking all of the facts of this case into account, the sentence could just be suspended. Laura drew the Judge’s attention to the passage of time since the incident took place, and the personal circumstances of the defendant since the time of the offence.
