Daniel Cohen successfully defends client charged with wounding with intent.

Instructed by Reeves and Co, Daniel Cohen secured the acquittal of a 17-year-old defendant charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, following a 6 day trial at Basildon Crown Court.

The defendant was charged alongside an adult male, both said to be part of a group of 7-10 youths who attacked the complainant with a machete. Daniel’s client was only 12 at the time of the incident, which was reported in the local press.

Legal challenges were mounted against the admissibility of identification evidence, which was founded on Facebook images shown by a third party, who was not a witness in the case, and were no longer available. The defendant raised an alibi, stating he was at home at the material time.
