Maria Buckingham successfully defends in knife crime jury trial
Maria Buckingham, a pupil with 9 KBW, was successful in her defence of a man charged with three counts of: threatening with a bladed article, possession of a bladed article and criminal damage. It was alleged that BG had ripped open a letter box, then proceeded to tap on the complainants’ window with a knife and walk towards another complainant pointing the knife towards him causing considerable fear and distress. BG’s defence involved complete denial of having touched the knife, which was found in a bush near to where he was sitting when police arrived. BG was acquitted by the jury on all three counts
