Prior to commencing pupillage, Piers volunteered as a mentor for Vocalise, a student-led initiative, attending HMP Brixton to teach debating skills to prisoners.
Piers also accumulated a wealth of experience in the criminal courts, spending six months as a Court Clerk at Inner London Crown Court and then eight months as a Legal Advisor in North and Central Kent Magistrates’ Courts. This gave Piers a unique insight into advocacy and criminal practice from different sides of the courtroom and a valuable understanding of the full spectrum of criminal offences.
